Macky Sall, le président de la république, a fêté son 62e anniversaire le 11 décembre 2023. Il se trouvait à Doha, au Qatar, pour participer au forum de Doha, un sommet annuel des dirigeants politiques et économiques du monde entier.
À sa sortie de l’hôtel où il séjournait, le président Sall a reçu une surprise de la part d’une équipe de Sénégalais. Ces derniers l’ont accueilli avec des chants de joyeux anniversaire, d’abord en anglais puis en arabe. Ils lui ont également offert une bougie qu’il a dû souffler avant de les saluer chaleureusement.
Cette surprise a semblé plaire au président de la République, qui a été émerveillé lorsqu’il a vu un groupe de femmes lui souhaiter un joyeux anniversaire.
Il s’agit du dernier anniversaire que Macky Sall fêtera en tant que chef de l’État au Sénégal. Le président a annoncé en juin 2023 qu’il ne se représenterait pas à l’élection présidentielle qui se déroulera en février 2024.
