Après plus d’un an d’absence des terrains suite à un contrôle anti-dopage fin janvier 2023, Pierria Henry connaît désormais son sort. La FIBA a annoncé ce mercredi une suspension de quatre ans à l’encontre du meneur sénégalais pour non-respect des règles anti-dopage.
Dans un communiqué, la FIBA a précisé que le joueur était sanctionné pour « l’utilisation ou la tentative d’utilisation d’une substance ou d’une méthode interdite » (article 2.2 du règlement anti-dopage). Cette suspension, très lourde, concerne Henry, qui avait évolué notamment à Fenerbahçe, même si une partie de cette période a déjà été écoulée. Suite au contrôle anti-dopage, le club de Baskonia avait temporairement suspendu le contrat du meneur en janvier 2023, en attendant les conclusions des instances.
La décision est maintenant prise pour Henry, qui ne pourra pas reprendre le jeu avant le 13 janvier 2027. Cette sanction remet en question l’avenir sportif du Sénégalais, qui sera près de ses 34 ans à la fin de sa période de suspension.
