Babacar Dia a été heurté mortellement par un taxi, dans la nuit vendredi au samedi, au cours du constat d'un accident routier sur le pont de Foire. Le 2e adjoint au commandant de la brigade de la Foire, repose désormais à Darou Salam dans la commune de Mbacké.
La gendarmerie nationale a rendu un ultime hommage au maréchal des logis-chef ( Mld/C), la levée du corps a eu lieu dimanche à l'hôpital Principal en présence de plusieurs autorités: le commandant de la Légion de Dakar, le Lieutenant-Colonel Abdou Mbengue.
Selon les témoignages receuilis par Seneweb Babacar Dia était issu de la 40 ème promotion des Élèves- Gendarmes, sorti un jour de novembre 2008.
