Dans la catégorie court métrage, le réalisateur égyptien Morad Mostafa et la documentariste algérienne Assia Khemici ont été distingués avec le Poulain d’or dans leurs catégories respectives. Côté fiction courte, c’est “I Promise You Paradise”, du cinéaste égyptien Morad Mostafa, qui s’est imposé avec le Poulain d’or. Le Poulain d’argent a été remis à “Alazar”, signé Bela Hailu Lemma (Éthiopie), tandis que l’Algérien Azedine Kasri a reçu le Poulain de bronze pour “Boussa/Le bisou”.
De son côté, le Sénégal s’est distingué en remportant deux mentions spéciales, dont un prix dans la compétition officielle de la catégorie film d’animation, ainsi qu’un prix spécial UEMOA.
